It is an amazing feeling when you start to see the world differently. It started for me on a little side street in Venice, Italy.  I had spent the day among the masses who had flocked to the city during it's high season.  I was lucky enough just to be there!   I was on my first study abroad and had never travelled out of the country before. I was in awe of the landscape around me.  I was surrounded by the most incredible architecture that erupted in light and colors in a way I had never seen before, and I did not want to forget a single thing.  In true tourist fashion, I had spent the day furiously taking snapshots of everything and anything I could get my lens on.  I was walking across a small bridge, and then it happened: an empty gondola, a gondolier sitting on a staircase, and a view of one of the tiniest canals I had seen in the city … click.

Something had changed in me.  Photography became about timing, lighting, setting up the perfect composition, finding the right angle, and a little luck.  It was no longer a tool of chance trying to help me remember.  It was a medium of creation and exploration; an extension of myself, and how I see the world.  I realized in that moment that photography was something I loved, and I've been shooting ever since!
